A free eye camp for thousands of people from all over Pakistan is an event to be highly coveted. If only Pakistan were as developed a country, so many people would have been blessed with the gift of sight.

Little do we know that this eye camp actually exists and that also, twice a year, after every six months! This eye camp is held every year at the charity hospital in The Dar-ul-Ehsan. Best eye surgeons from all over the world register themselves at the centre as volunteers for providing free eye treatment. Then, out of numerous names, a specific number is chosen randomly who then come and treat as many patients as they can.

The Dar-ul-Ehsan, literally meaning 'The house of blessings', was built by Hazrat Abu Anees Muhammad Barkat Ali. Out of love, he is known as Baba Jee Hazoor.

The Dar-ul-Ehsan is located on Darbar Road in Salarwala, Faisalabad. It consists of 3 mosques, a darsgah, a Quran Kareem Mahal and a charity hospital. At the Quran Kareem Mahal, which is the first one in the world, old copies of The Quran from different countries of the world written in various calligraphy styles are exhibited and old copies of The Quran are preserved. At the darsgah, Islam is preached; over 100, 000 individuals have accepted Islam through this preaching.

Baba Jee Hazoor has written more than 400 books about different aspects of Islam. Copies of these books are also distributed free of cost at The Dar-ul-Ehsan for the people’s benefit.

Hazrat Muhammad Abu Anees Barkat Ali was one of the rare blessed men who rightly understood the true meaning of Islam which is 'to be humane.' He knew that at the end of the day, the teachings of our holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the commandments given to us by Allah The Almighty, revolve around serving humanity. Hence, the Dar ul Ehsan is run according to the Sunnah (actions of the prophet Muhammad PBUH) and Quranic teachings. The foundation of the free eye camp at The Dar-ul-Ehsan is based on the importance of tending to the sick in Islam.
